Aliza

Has a tiwn Olivia, and both were named for graduate student Tamara's nieces. Aliza is small and dainty, with a very pretty face.

Amelia Deer Heart

Flew in a helicopter when she was just a few days old. She broke her leg as a fawn, but recovered into a chubby, calm, and friendly doe. Amelia enjoys ruminating in the sunshine and is happiest when she has to move as little as possible.

Annabell

Was are first female fawn captured by hand in the Snake River Canyon by volunteers including two kids Landree and Whitney who named her. Friendly Annabell is the pet of all, and is always front and center to see if she can help. Her healed lip injury gives her a perpetual smile.

Aquilla

Named for constellation meaning eagle, Aquilla has a pretty grey coat that is unique to the herd, and was the first deer to have “orthodontia” by her favorite vet Donna, she looks great!

Beatrice

Acquired as a yearling from a family in Northeastern Washington that had hand-raised her. She is large, sweet, with a long, thin face, and likes to put her head on your shoulder for lots of kisses

Biscuit

Named for deer biologist Woody's favorite flower, Biscuit root, native to her home in the channeled scablands of eastern Washington. She has big wide eyes, which gives her a friendly yet scared look.

Bjork

The smallest deer's name means “birch” in Swedish. She was carried out of the Snake River canyon in a backpack by researcher Lisa. Nicknamed “Little Bear”, Bjork is cute and fluffy!

Likes to give kisses. She is big, calm, and steady, with beautiful “doe eyes”.

Feisty and lively and full of spunk, just like the character on a sci-fi show called “Farscape” for whom she's named.

Named for Rudolph's girlfriend, large and more “wild” and “deer-like” than many of the others. She has unique white eye-rings.

Cygnus

Named for the swan constellation by researcher Lisa's 5 year old son who loves astronomy, and a acquired from rehabilitator in Spokane . Her white eye rings that makes her easy to spot, and she is very calm and friendly.

Small, fluffy deer named for young niece of technician Megan who suffers from cancer. Emma has a beautiful, dainty face. But like the niece Emma, this doe also has a lot of spunk and is a fighter

Named for technician Jill's sister, she is small and friendly, always underfoot, and likes to lick you anywhere she can find bare skin!

Felina

Named for Bambi's girlfriend, and acquired from rehabilitator in northern Washington . Large-framed and friendly with a crooked nose that makes her look like she needs braces.

Flip Flop

Acquired from rehabilitator in northern Washington . He ears were unusually floppy as a fawn, but straightened out as an adult. She is a calm and friendly deer.

Gemini

Another deer in the “constellation” group, she was feisty as a baby and would box her feeders with her front feet to get to her milk. Now she is a pretty, slim, well-mannered doe.

Helen is small and very shy. She's named for the mother of volunteers Ella Gaye and Dale, who recently passed away.

Jane has perhaps the most a beautiful face, but is a shy loner. However, if you're not paying attention she'll nuzzle right up to you

Kristy is a “deer” deer, shy yet strong and vibrant.

Kyla

She's a small strawberry blond. As a fawn she always ran around looking for her bigger twin brother, Steffen, and stayed right beside him.

Madeline

One of the last deer captured, Madeline has a beautiful face, and a slender, stream-lined body. Madeline wanted to grow up so fast, she weaned herself.

Named for the bunch of nettles she was sitting in when captured, leaving researches with stinging arms. Nettles is very friendly, as you can see.

Nevada

Nevada is a twin to Sierra. She has a Roman nose. When she was a baby, we'd always find her standing on top of her wooden hut, waiting for her milk.

Olivia

Twin to Aliza, and named for a graduate student's Tamara's niece. Olivia is unusual because she has extra toes in each of her front legs. This causes her hooves to wear unevenly and she requires frequent hoof-trimming or “manicures”

Olympia

Named by volunteer Carol for how fast she can run. Olympia has large-wide-set eyes, and was quite wild originally, but penmate Sweet Pea had a calming effect on her.

Penelope

Distinctive for her very large ears, and large eyes covered with heavy lids and lashes, and broad snout. Penelope is shy yet curious.

Scorpio

Named for the constellation, Scorpio is calm and friendly always at the fence looking for some lovin' and likes to get in the middle of the action. She broke her leg as a fawn, but with help from WSU vets, it healed perfectly.
