Adopt a Mule Deer Program

Mule deer have been declining in the western U.S. for the last two decades. WSU is partnering with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, Bonneville Power Administration, Colville Federated Tribes, and the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council to find out why.
We are conducting extensive field studies on mule deer in Washington and have begun a captive mule deer herd to examine their nutrition and reproduction. Animals were hand-raised by faculty and students and reside in a new, 8 acre facility on WSU campus (Wild Ungulate Facility, WUF). Research and care of captive deer is supervised by Dr. Lisa Shipley, Associate Professor of Wildlife Ecology.

Help care for these amazing animals and support this research by adopting a mule deer!
